Do you love working with others? Are you passionate about healthy skin? There are esthetician jobs that you might enjoy. To become an esthetician, you must attend a cosmetology or esthetician school and become licensed. You might even open your own business once you’ve gained the necessary experience you’ll need to be successful.

Job:

You must have a license in order to perform cosmetic skin treatments. You may perform any of the following:

  • Facials: clear up blemishes and improve the skin’s appearance with facials.
  • Head and neck massage: usually performed during facials.
  • Medical esthetician: instruct clients in the right techniques for applying cosmetics or caring for skin after surgery, radiation or other skin trauma.
  • Waxing: hair removal.

Salary:

Your salary will be effected by the type of services you offer as well as the location of the business, however, the median hourly wage, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics, which includes tips, is approximately $14.00. The field is expected to grow by about 38 percent in the next 8 years.

Education:

You need to attain the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in this industry. An esthetician school that has a full-time program can prepare you in less than a year.

  • Anatomy
  • How to perform a facial
  • Proper hair removal techniques
