Often when people begin fitness related science programs or nursing programs, they do so for one of two reasons. They may love caring for other people, and get into these programs in order to find a tangible way to help others. Alternately, they may be passionate about maintaining their own health and have found their way to these programs as a way to advance their own physical well being. Regardless of the reason, people attracted to these types of programs and careers may also be interested in learning more about careers in fitness.
One of my friends wanted to go to nursing school because of a mixture of the two reasons mentioned above. She loved helping people and was a complete fitness nut, which I mean in the best possible way. While in school she took a job at a large gym near the school. She found she loved her job and soon worked her way up to teaching a few classes. She eventually realized she had more fun in this environment, and could make a salary she was happy with. She eventually dropped out of the nursing program and became a personal trainer instead. She is very happy with her career in fitness. The flexibility of her schedule, her ability to stay fit while working, and the money she is earning have all combined to make her quite pleased with her daily routine. Are you interested in a career in fitness? What aspects are you most drawn to?
