Beauty and Health Programs

Often when people think about enrolling in a health program they are often motivated by a deep desire to help people. These natural caregivers may consider nursing programs or even EMT programs in an effort to find a career that lets them fulfill this aspect of their personality. However, not all people who want to be caregivers are able to handle the realities required of those in the field of health. One of the careers that people often don’t, but should, associate with the field of health is the field of beauty.
Many of these careers, which include esthetician, cosmetologist, and beautician, actually require personality types very similar to those who would be interested in other health programs. Individuals in both fields need to be caring, compassionate, detail oriented, and be able to communicate well with others. Whereas most health programs require extensive time in school many programs that are for the beauty field take less time. Additionally, the beauty field is almost always full of the happier side of caring for people whereas the medical field can often be sad or unpleasant for the caregivers.
When I was teaching middle school, I had a very sensitive and compassionate young man. He did well academically but was socially very awkward. I recently found out that he has enrolled in cosmetology classes and from his social networking site can tell that he has really blossomed. He has tons of friends and he is happier than ever because he is able to communicate with people and make them happy. That’s a happy, healthy, and beautiful education choice!
