Web Design Degree
I have mentioned before that many of my former students absolutely loved the art programs offered by our school. Not only that, but they were eager to get to high school where there was an even wider selection of art programs available. Understand, however, that we do live in a rural area and when I say art programs I don’t mean there was an entire wing of various program offerings. Nevertheless, most were thrilled with an after school drama program, rudimentary art class, band, and chorus.
One thing we lacked in both the middle school and high school setting was a computer art class. This would have been especially helpful, and possibly enlightening, to some of our artistically inclined students who eventually went on to pursue a web design degree.
Even without the class, many of our students were working on designing their own websites and blogs or making special things for their MySpace and FaceBook pages. For students like this, the lack of computer art programs within the school was a mere annoyance and did not dissuade them from eventually pursuing a web design degree. I can’t help but wonder, however, how many more students might have taken that path if those classes had been available in our public schools. Did the computer art programs at your school help you decide to pursue a web design degree?
