Occupational Therapy Degree

Occupational Therapy Degree

There are so many different health programs to choose from when deciding on a career in the field of medicine. Many people think only of doctors and nurses, but truly there are dozens if not hundreds of other careers to choose from. One that I didn’t discover until I was teaching is that of an occupational therapist. An occupational therapy degree teaches you to become a specialized kind of physical therapist that deals primarily with tasks required to function in day to day life or at work.

Typically, a person undergoing occupational therapy has some sort of condition that makes it difficult, if not impossible, for them to do daily tasks on their own. The activities that the occupational therapist will work on with each patient varies depending on the specific needs of the patient.

To become an occupational therapist, one must earn a Master’s Occupational Therapy Degree and undergo testing for licensing. Once this is completed, however, the job market in this field is wide open. Locations as varied as schools, nursing homes, and rehabilitation centers are constantly looking for qualified occupational therapists. Are you interested in becoming an occupational therapist?
