Interior Design Degree

I’ve known many artistically inclined students. Most of them, because of a lack of proper exposure to art programs in public schools, satisfied their artistic inclinations by drawing on any available surface. Notes from class, tests, homework, desks, walls, clothes, arms, or pretty much anything else that couldn’t get away from their pens.

Usually I would try to direct this energy into something a bit more constructive like illustrating information from our text, or drawing a comic strip that explained the time period we were studying. Actually, I had lots of little tricks for keeping my little artists from defacing my room and paying attention to me. However, most of them would eventually ask me how they were going to be able to use the art they loved when they got out of school.

For those that truly lived and breathed art, I had a list of art programs from several of our state colleges. One that always surprised them was the option of an interior design degree. I had one girl, in particular, who loved to design sets for the drama productions at our school. When she realized there were people who would pay her to design the sets of their everyday life she was thrilled. Ultimately, she did pursue an interior design degree at a college in another state. She stopped by the school on her winter break shortly after she graduated to tell me how much she loved it. I wonder if I can get a discount on a home makeover?
