Hospitality Management Degree
I absolutely love Disney World. I love the magical atmosphere, the beauty, the overflowing happiness, and the friendly service, which is almost always flawless. So naturally, when the service is less than amazing I am disappointed.
This happened on a recent trip. I got to my room, dropped all of my stuff, and immediately headed to one of the parks. After the park closed, I went back to my room planning to take a shower and get ready for the next exciting day. Unfortunately, my bathroom was a mess! There were soap wrappers on the floor, powder under the sinks, and the shower….wasn’t clean. I called management and they spent a house cleaner out within fifteen minutes to clean my room, at 11PM.
I am a rather chatty person, so once the house cleaner arrived we talked while she cleaned. It turned out she was there as something of an apprentice as part of the hospitality management degree she was pursuing in Ireland. She told me Disney is famous for their hospitality training and once she finished she would be able to get a job anywhere in the world. I saw her point the next day when I received a huge gift basket. Disney still managed to make my stay magical! If you are considering a degree in hospitality management, I highly recommend attempting to get an internship at the happiest place on earth.
