Accounting Degree

While I was going to college, I worked as a secretary in an insurance firm. I met many interesting people, learned new things, and made many friends. One of the people I met became a friend and taught me something new her name was Lucy. She had received an accounting degree from a nearby university. Before meeting Lucy I thought accountants worked on taxes, remember I did say I was young! Well she seemed to really enjoy every little thing about her job “keeping the books”, as she called it, for the small firm. I briefly thought about pursuing an accounting degree online because she made it sound more like fun than work.

I quickly realized that I hate almost everything to do with numbers. That would have made me a miserable accountant! The things I liked about the job were playing with a computer on a daily basis and dealing with purchase orders. Fortunately, I was able to do both of these things as a teacher. The things I hate, such as maintaining a checkbook (except on a much larger scale) I did not have to do. Have you ever thought about starting an accounting degree? Why do you think you might enjoy it?
