Counseling Degree

One of my good friends as a teacher was the guidance counselor, Tracy. She was a fantastic resource and a very hard working lady. I found out soon after I had finished my degree that she had begun working towards a counseling degree. This online counseling degree program allowed her to work full time while attending classes at home at night, although some of her classes were also held at the college. Because a counseling degree also requires a practicum (time spent practicing what she was learning) she was also able to schedule her service online. This saved her an extraordinary amount of time, and she often said she didn’t know if she would have been able to pursue an advanced degree if it wasn’t for the online counseling degree option.

She was interested in an advanced degree in counseling for several reasons. First, she thought it would help her better serve the students and staff at our school. Second, the school district had a higher pay rate for those of us with advanced degrees. Finally, she saw it as a good way to make herself more marketable in an economy that was anything but certain. All of these are excellent reasons to begin working towards an online counseling degree, or really any advanced degree.

What is your reason for going back to school?
