Spider Web
Working from home is a great option for people who have found their income sources from the traditional marketplace reduced. It is also great for women, or men, who decide to stay at home with their children instead of going into a nine to five type of environment. I decided to quit a traditional job to stay at home with my children, and couldn’t be happier. When my husband and I first made the decision it took a great deal of thought and preparation. If you are considering working from home, a web design degree may be perfect for you.
Web design is the creation of the pretty part of a website. It is designing, or choosing, the graphics, colors, and font that will make the website pleasing to visitors. A web design degree can also teach you how to create websites that have easy to navigate information and may teach graphic manipulation. Some web design degrees also have elements of web development, which I will discuss further tomorrow.
Is it right for me?
Are you graphically minded? Can you tell what looks good together and what completely clashes? Do you have at least a little bit of tech geek in your system? If so web design may be perfect for you. With web design you have to be great with concepts, design, and color but it doesn’t necessarily matter if you are, or ever could be, a coding genius. If you are a coding genius and have trouble with the big picture, you may want to stay tuned for the web development discussion tomorrow.
With a web design degree, you will have a great background in graphics. You may even be able to freelance creating your own graphics to sell to other web designers. There is a large market for personalized avatars, logos, and other unique graphics to set a website apart from all the others. Be sure you choose those courses that most interest you and that most closely fit with the specific web design goals you have in mind.

I can attest to this personally — there is a shortage of good designers out there who can create solid, professional-looking logos and graphics, so the ones who are good can charge a premium for their services!

I have several friends who are designers and they are in very high demand. If I was even a little talented in that department, I would go back to school for it asap!
