Work From Home

Work From Home

This week I will be discussing degrees that can help you work from home. Although the economy is recovering, that recovery process is slow. Additionally, unemployment figures keep rising and are not expected to reach their cap in the near future. All of this means that traditional jobs that allow a person to go into work at a set time everyday are decreasing. The good thing about the degrees I will be discussing this week is that they will give you immediate training that is valuable for freelancers who wish to work from home. Once the economy has recovered and the job market is easier to navigate, these degrees will also help you obtain a more traditional job if you should so desire.

Great degrees for people who would like to have the option to work from home include:

  • Web design degree
  • Web development degree
  • Graphic design degree
  • Communication degree

While there are certainly other degrees that lend themselves to being used in an online environment, these are some of the most popular. Also, these particular degree programs are offered at a large number of schools many of which are available exclusively online. This makes it even easier for people that would like to increase their marketability but have limited funds to devote to the pursuit.

However, before you begin a degree program online and even before you think about working from home there are a few questions you must ask yourself.

  • Do you work well without supervision?
  • Are you self motivated?
  • Are you able to follow directions?
  • Are you willing to locate clients?
  • Are you good at time management?

Some of the most difficult aspects of working from home are successful time management and maintaining your motivation. Any of the degree programs can teach you to be successful in the technical aspects of your chosen field, but only you can make sure your time and efforts are spent wisely.

What degree programs do you think are most compatible with a goal of working at home?
